About the OneBReath Project
“A community is only as strong as the member who is most in need” - Nurse Nikky
The OneBReath Project is a non-profit organization that was created to provide a collaborative hub for local community organizations. Our mission is to facilitate a culture of wellness in the North Baton Rouge and surrounding communities. We believe that when community organizations work together, we can make a greater impact.
One of our initiatives is the OneBReath Boutique, which provides parents in need with essential baby items, hygiene products, clothing, and connections to community resources. We are housed in the OLOL Community Impact Center, which gives us access to other organizations that could benefit a family in need. At the boutique you can also participate in the following activities:
Potty Parties - These classes provide parents of potty training children with tips, tools, and support during this very important developmental milestone! Once parents join, they are able to receive Pull-Ups, baby wipes, and a potty seat to help them along.
Parent’s Night In - The PNI sessions provide parents and caregivers with activities like Paint & Chat and Yoga Sessions. Childcare is provided for those who parents that need to get out but don’t want to be too far away from their kiddo.
Private Boutique Sessions - Parents and Caregivers are able to make appointments to visit the boutique. Their appointment is private, providing safety and modesty to those who may be going through a delicate time.
OneBReath Project provides Service Learning hours for College Students at FranU, Southern, and LSU. Please check with your Service Learning Department for more information.

About Our One Village Baby Shower - How it All Began, and Where We are Now
The One Village Baby Shower is an initiative that was created in 2019 by our founder, Nikky Scott. The goal was to provide expecting mothers with a baby shower that they wouldn’t be able to have due to financial burden or homelessness. The OneBReath Project collaborated with It Takes a Village BR to provide a variety of baby items and resources, completely donated by the community members and local organizations. Over 20 mothers received brand new carseats, bassinets, play pens, diapers, wipes and more. The first annual One Village Baby Shower was hosted on January 31st, 2020.
In 2021, the shower was hosted virtually in order to protect the new parents and their babies during the height of the pandemic. About 15 mothers were gifted items for their babies during this shower. Moving the shower online introduced the shower to a wider audience, and allowed the OneBReath Project to continue distribution of baby items throughout the year. In 2024, we serviced over 250 families!
We accept donations at our Silverside location during the week, between 9am and 3pm. Many of the items are donated by the parents and caregivers that visit our boutique. We have truly become a Mutual Aid organization. We also receive in kind donations via community partners like the Junior League through their diaper bank, and the Baton Rouge Food Bank.
We would like to thank everyone who has donated, volunteered, and shared our information. We are especially proud to host one of the only consistent Baby Showers in East Baton Rouge! We are grateful for the opportunity to serve and look forward to networking with other organizations who have a mission to help our local mothers get back on their feet. - OBP
